Hi everyone!  Looks like I haven't made a journal entry since LAST Otakon!

I will be there this year, but table registration ran through the shadows and I missed it, so I won't be in the Artist Alley this year.

HOWEVER, I WILL be hosting the Osomatsu-San Photoshoots with a friend of mine on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon over at the McKeldin Fountain (at the harbor). We welcome all fans to attend, cosplaying or not, and even anyone curious about the franchise. It'll be fun!   Details are on the event Facebook page at www.facebook.com/events/110601…; I'll either be Osomatsu on Friday and Choromatsu on Saturday or Choromatsu on both days wearing different outfits.

Whoo!

My last con of the summer is coming near the end of the month.  I'll post my table number when I get it, but expect me to make my 3rd consecutive appearance in the artist alley, this year sharing again with with my partner in webcomic crime, StarrenPiece of "Prismatic Star!"

If you're going to Otakon, come look for me! I'll be selling the usual books and commissions and  things!

Right now I'm only just a little bit behind schedule with the book. Here's to a successful fulfillment run!

This time we're past fully funded, but the more we can get together, the more books I can order.  Now we've reached the stretch goal where every backer $30+ gets an acrylic keychain of one of the three main characters!

Don't miss out!

The campaign I ran last month only ended up 81% funded in the end, so it's time to do this again!

Lower goal, better-adjusted shipping rates, and now my convention prints (including fanarts) is included with some reward tiers. Give it a look!

Can i post images now? Anihoo, I found this meme on Momogirl's journal and i wanted to try it.  I wanna go with Terrie from my HiEx series.

1. Terrie is part of a family that runs a hair salon together in an artsy town called Chester. They get lots of musicians for clients, but they're open to anybody. Ren (parental figure) and Les (younger brother) are the stylists of the buch, Raphael (dad) does management things on occasion, and Terrie herself works on home made hair and skin care products. The business and family are rather popular, but Terrie is rarely ever seen on the salon floor and hides herself from promotions and public relations.
2. She's very socially anxious. Dealing with one person at a time is pretty doable, but getting attention from an audience makes her want to disappear.
3. Her natural hair color is reddish brown. Just slightly lighter than her dad's Everyone in the family except Raph dyes their hair in some crazy color. Ren just changes between more colors than anyone else. Terrie has always stuck with blueish purples and re-dyes it regularly except on summer vacations.
4. Legal name is Terrie Daiquiri.  Ren wanted to give the kids gender-neutral names, but Terrie pens her full name as Theresa Daiquiri, as she wanted a more feminine name.  Also on the subject of names, Daiquiri was a last name chosen by Ren and Raph when they got married.
5. She was bullied and joked on a lot for being small and for standing out from a family of flashy people. She’s grown some immunity over it, but it’s still bothersome if done too much. She never considered herself a normal person with a normal family, but unlike Geno, she’s actually accepted this.
5a. Ren is also a short person, while Les and Raph are tall people.
?. it should also be said at this point that Ren is a FtM transgender. How far into the transition journey he's into- it doesn't contribute any necessity to the story, just his identity. He and Raph do have a backstory that will eventually happen
6. Terrie reads a lot of books, Mostly how-tos and encyclopedia articles, but fantasy novels are a guilty pleasure. She’s not into video games or much into television. She won’t get most references that others will jab around her.
7. The pants/skirt combo has been her style for a few years now. Long shirts over pants was an older style of hers, but still something she would alternate into on occasion. The skirt she wears as part of the Greenhouse team uniform is worn with hiking shorts. Earlier concepts of her had the greenhouse team skirt as short as her regular skirts, but felt like it was too anime to give girls short uniform skirts. She wears brown boots with almost all of her outfits. The school doesn’t have any rules on footwear except to actually wear some when on campus
8. She is an asexual, except she doesn’t know about asexuality. She just feels like an outcast for not having interest like her peers. Geno will figure this out pretty quick since he knows about the concept, but some of his ICs (in-charge people) don’t, so getting warned repeatedly not to get in bed with the student will be amusing  but also kind of frustrating after a while.
9. Terrie and Audrie are both huge fans of each others’ work and hoped to exchange a lot of info/advice when Audrie got Terrie enrolled in the school and training to be an apprentice. If the other students didn’t make Terrie feel awkward in class, she and Audrie would be giggling together like besties.
10. Out of all hiex mains that existed since 2006, Terrie was the only character who went through drastic design changes. She was originally an outgoing sassy girl of average young adult height who wore black/orange dresses because she was a halloween fanatic and her hair was styled different. Dr. Generic also changed quite a bit visually (though given a bigger personality overhaul), but he was introduced in the 2009 comic. In the 2011 comic that’s still running today, he was removed from the prologue and replaced with Riley while given a different entrance later on in chapter 1

Terrie was created for the comic in either 2006 or 2007. HiEx first came to be in 2004 where the main characters were Geno, Kat, Von, and Stanley, all of whom still exist in present day.

If you like my webcomic, or prefer to read such a thing as a real book, you can pre-order one via Kickstarter at www.kickstarter.com/projects/c…

The campaign will run until January 13th and books will be shipped out by June depending on factors like extra book content and such.

Thanks!

We have about three weeks to go.  I was assigned at table K-02 under "Studio Squishbag", which is sorta near the entrance.  I have a 5-foot Terrie/Genova banner that should be easy to spot. :D

I'm still preparing artwork to sell, as making stuff for print was never my strong point.  I at least have commission supplies ready, a bunch of last year's merchandise, and I'll be giving out a full color Highly Experimental postcard to anyone who's interested!  If I get an Immortal Fool postcard done by that weekend, I'll give those out too, but they'll be in limited supply since I'm printing those from home

While I'm still working on arts for the con, I'm alternating between comic updates each week. Last week I updated HiEx, this week I'll be updating Immortal Fool, and next week so on unless I'm too busy.

I'm looking forward to this!

I hope everyone is doing well. Art from me has been overall sluggish the last few months, but most of what I did manage to scan and upload can be found at cammiluna.tumblr.com and instagram.com/cammiluna.

Work has grown increasingly demanding since I was re-hired at my dental office back in the summer. I handle the graphic design, social media building a new website, and occasional illustration (Right now I'm revamping some of our postcard designs), I'm in charge of all outgoing mail (we get about 3000-5000 mail pieces out on good weeks) and I solve IT issues that happen here and there.  I usually come home too tired to do anything, and when Sunday comes around, I just want to sleep the entire day. It's not to say I don't like this job. Everyone is friendly and supportive and I can't ask for a better team to be with. I'm just wish I have more energy for personal stuff.  I have three commissions that are six months overdue because I'm trying to juggle comic updates as well.

I've gotten myself a Cintiq Companion for christmas. It's that awesome stand-alone Cintiq tablet that runs on Windows 8, and so far, with the exception of the the high resolution making all the buttons ridiculously tiny and the power button being in one of the worst places possible, it has been the best machine I've ever used in my life.  I even take it to work and getting work done is faster, plus I get to draw comics during my lunch break. I'm aiming to get those commissions completed in January so decide between working on EvoRelution or take a new pile of commissions to help pay off the tablet.

And with that, I'm selling my Cintiq 12WX for $600 if anyone [in the USA] is interested in buying. Includes all cables, the screen has no scratches whatsoever, and I will throw in some brand new felt nibs I just purchased for the pen.

As for gaming, I'm currently playing Link Bewtween Worlds, Bastion, and I just got Pokemon Y this morning.

I had fun with friends, met some awesome webcartoonists (including an awesome British guy making his US debut in the Artist Alley), tried out the Cintiq Companion, some Nintendo games, and camped outside Ninty's streetpass panel with a bunch of other peeps with their 3DSes on Mii Plaza.  It was nice, but there wasn't a lot to offer at the con itself.  The panel selection is still minimal, the presence of cool animation/gaming companies was minimal, and the Artist Alley should have been organized.  Like, the show floor has the big companies in the center, the classic comic dealers in one corner, the bubblegum goth stuff in another corner, etc.  Artist Alley could have been like that too with the comic professionals, comic indies and anime illustrators in easy to find groups. Oh well!

I bought Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland.

If you're going to Otakon, anyway!  I'll be at table P-01 with the lovely StarrenPiece and we'll both be selling prints, drawing things, and promoting our comics.  It's possible a third person might rotate with us. I will announce if that happens.

Immortal Fool will resume updates after the con. Highly Experimental has continued to update, though less frequently, at the website, highlyexperimental.net.  I started working full time as of  six weeks ago while still assisting my family with things at home and also playing Animal Crossing addictively, that I have been drawing less and lost all interest in drawing digital (i already stare at a computer all day at my job).  I've been making good use of my sketchbook, though, and hope to transition to traditional pen and paper for the next hiex chapter.

Thanks for visiting!
